In 2006-2007, GFPHE announced the creation of the following three awards.

Distinguished Service to GFPHE Award

The Distinguished Service Award is in support of the principle that one's involvement in professional organizations builds their professional skills. This award is given annually to a GFPHE member in recognition of work done on behalf of the GFPHE Chapter and in support of GFPHE's mission and goals.

Criteria:

  1. The nominee must have been member of GFPHE for 3 years.
  2. The nomination must be made by a current GFPHE member with a letter detailing reasons and examples why the nominee should receive the award.
  3. At least two additional letters of support from current GFPHE members describing their reasons why the nominee should receive this award.

 

GFPHE Health Education Practice Award

The GFPHE Health Education Practice Award is to recognize an individual who has achieved measurable accomplishments and demonstrated excellence in putting the principles and theories of health education into practice, contributing to behavior change and improved health of the public.

Critera:

  1. The nominee must have been member of GFPHE for 3 years.
  2. The nomination must be made by a current GFPHE member with a letter detailing reasons and examples why the nominee should receive the award.
  3. At least two additional letters of support from current GFPHE members describing their reasons why the nominee should receive this award. (Additional letters of support from non-GFPHE members are welcome.)

 

GFPHE Health Education Newcomer Award

Entry into any professional field takes many years to become fully established and widely known. The GFPHE Health Education Newcomer Award recognizes a health educator who is a GFPHE member (at least one year), is new to the health education profession (up to three years), and has already demonstrated outstanding and promising contributions to the field.

Criteria:

  1. The nominee must be a new practitioner (up to three years) of health education.
  2. The nominee must have been member of GFPHE for 1 year.
  3. The nomination must be made by a current GFPHE member with a letter detailing reasons and examples why the nominee should receive the award.
  4. At least two additional letters of support from current GFPHE members describing their reasons why the nominee should receive this award. (Additional letters of support from non-GFPHE members are welcome.)
